24th JUNE 2019: UPDATE ON LEGAL DEFENSE OF THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS FROM UNSCRUPULOUS THIEVES

24th JUNE 2019: UPDATE ON LEGAL DEFENSE OF THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS FROM UNSCRUPULOUS THIEVES

On the 24th of June 2019, the National Legal Adviser and other representatives of the AAC were in court to continue the spirited legal defence of the party from the scurrilous attempt to usurp its leadership by Leonard Nzenwa and his puppet-masters.

After adoption of processes by the lawyers for both sides, the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, sitting in Court 6 of the Federal High Court, Central Area, Abuja opened the floor for adumbration by both lawyers.

In contrast to the lawyer representing Leonard and co, Inibehe Effiong Esq., the National Legal Adviser and counsel to the Party Chairman and Deputy, Omoyele Sowore and Malcolm Fabiyi, delivered a rousing, impassioned summary of the arguments against Mr. Nzenwa’s ill-conceived and bad-faith arguments. He ended by praying the court to not just dismiss their claims and prayers, but to do so with rebuke, and with substantial cost to Sowore and Dr. Fabiyi.

Despite the commencement of the 2019 judicial vacation on the 5th of July, 2019, the judge, in cognisance of the importance of the matter, offered to break his vacation on the 12th of July, 2019, to deliver judgement. Consequently, the case was adjourned to 12th of July, 2019, for judgement.

Other representatives in court were Barr. Sepre Oyeghe, who accompanied the lead counsel Mr. Effiong; Dr. Joshua Adeoye, the Ag. National Secretary, AAC; Mr. Philip Oshiokhue, the National Organising Secretary, AAC; Mr. Jude Eyah, the Administrative Secretary, AAC Headquarters; Miss. Oluwatosin Adeniji, a member of the Office of the Candidate, Take-It-Back; and Mr. Bob Benedict, a State executive of AAC, Federal Capital Territory.

BUHARI’S INAUGURATION LEAVES NIGERIANS WITH LITTLE TO HOPE FOR

BUHARI’S INAUGURATION LEAVES NIGERIANS WITH LITTLE TO HOPE FOR

Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies – President Muhammadu Buhari started his second term
as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as he meant to continue: with no message of
hope and nothing to offer the good people of this country.

Yesterday, the elderly leader set a new record by being the first democratically elected leader in the
history of Nigeria not to deliver an inaugural speech. The Take it Back Movement, led by Omoyele
Sowore, believes this shocking silence to be disrespectful to Nigerians and further reflective of the
non-existent plans that the APC-led government has for the country.

Anyone holding out for change, next level or any level other than the one the country has found
itself would have been met with silence yesterday. Silence at a time when the economy has plunged
to unimaginable depths. No advice as lawlessness and terrorism reign supreme, and the criminals –
those with guns and those in positions of power – escape unpunished. No words of comfort or
encouragement as Nigerians are denied entry or rights abroad and denied respect at home. No stern
words or promises of sanction or punishment for those who bleed the country dry and waste human
lives at scale as people are denied security, access to healthcare, education or reliable infrastructure.

We do, however, thank him for his honesty. The man who assured the nation four years ago that he
“belonged to everybody and nobody” made it clear in his first term that he did indeed belong to a
select few who did not serve the interest of the Nigerian masses.

The flagrant disregard of a leader who has secured his second term and no longer has a need to keep
up the pretence is not surprising to us at the Take it Back Movement, and we remain resolute in our
stance: Nigeria must be liberated. We will continue to speak truth to power, educate the masses,
and show our people the freedom in daring to hope. Where they meet Nigerians with silence, we
will give our people revolution, a dream to aspire to. We will fight every step of the way to create a
Nigeria we will be proud to call home.

AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE SACK AND ARREST OF CBN GOVERNOR GODWIN EMEFIELE OVER N500bn THEFT

AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE SACK AND ARREST OF CBN GOVERNOR GODWIN EMEFIELE OVER N500bn THEFT

Omoyele Sowore, chairman of the African Action Congress party, has called for the immediate sacking and arrest of the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, following the recent release of an audio recording that puts him squarely at the centre of an audacious 500 billion naira theft that crippled the economy and risked foreign investment. Emefiele, his deputy Edward Lametek Adamu and others have been caught on tape discussing how to cover up the loss of the funds stolen from the Central Bank of Nigeria towards the end of 2018 in a private investment in Dubai that went bust.

The CBN governor, appointed by Goodluck Jonathan, retained by Buhari’s regime and now approved for a further five years can distinctly be heard discussing with his deputy for ideas on how to cover up the heinous crime against the people of Nigeria.

Emefiele is on record as saying that the damage could be extensive, leaving many wondering that “They (the CBN heads) could have depreciated, they didn’t depreciate and foreign investors will now begin to panic and take their money out because they would say it would depreciate.”

Sowore has been unwavering in his stance that the rot eating away at Nigeria’s fabric starts at the top, and continues to unearth evidence to prove this point. From security to power to income strategy, it is clear that this government and its leadership work towards impeding Nigeria’s growth at every turn.

The fact that this irrefutable evidence is not headline news and the governor maintains his position at the helm of the nation’s financial affairs – as have many thieves before him – is damning to our country indeed. APC and PDP, the two sides of the same country-crippling coin install their cronies into positions of power and the wholesale embezzlement is allowed to freely continue.

Independent sources at the CBN say Mr. Emefiele and his partners ultimately resolved this issue by diverting funds in possession of the CBN and also printing hard cold cash. The country cannot continue to be led by people who are unconcerned about the plight of the suffering masses and are only creative in covering their perfidious tracks.

This cannot be allowed to continue. The African Action Congress party demands that the governor steps down immediately and a full scale investigations be launched into his actions and financial manipulations during his tenure.

Nigeria must progress.

SOWORE’S AAC URGES NIGERIANS TO STAND IN SOLIDARITY AS 6 UNLAWFULLY ARRESTED FOR PASTING POSTERS REAPPEAR IN COURT

SOWORE’S AAC URGES NIGERIANS TO STAND IN SOLIDARITY AS 6 UNLAWFULLY ARRESTED FOR PASTING POSTERS REAPPEAR IN COURT

On Sunday, 9th December, 2018, six members of the African Action Congress party were unlawfully arrested during the early hours for pasting posters in Lagos State. The arresting officers went through several charges before settling on the charge of defacing public property, accusing them of vandalising posters belonging to Jimi Agbaje, the PDP Lagos state gubernatorial candidate.

Our supporters have been steadfast in their defence that they did no such thing; maintaining that they were arrested only with Sowore’s posters, brushes and adhesive paste.

At the time, the arrest, which led to a three-day detention including two days in Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison for pasting posters, was the latest in a long line of persistent attacks on the AAC. The party would later deal with exclusion from the national debate and a poorly orchestrated smear campaign.

We have fought every semblance of injustice and oppression that has come our way since the beginning of this campaign, and will continue to do so, this court case included.

It is unconscionable that the APC and PDP would rather sink to these depths than spend their time proving to Nigerians that they are worthy candidates to govern the land. That they would rather squander the freedom of six innocent young men than do the right thing – make plans for this nation and then keep their promises.

We urge Nigerians not to fall for these cheap tactics and to instead focus on the prize: a Nigeria that works for us all, regardless of tribe, religion, income level or political alliance.

On Monday, 4th February, 2019, the AAC will go to court and once again stare injustice in the face in the case of six young men arrested for pasting posters in Lagos state. Regardless of their political affiliations, it is our hope that every Nigerian will be rightfully outraged by this case.

We specifically ask that ALL of our supporters use the picture of the AAC 6 as their profile picture in a united, worldwide show of solidarity. We must support our own and let the old cabals know that we are not for bowing or breaking. This is the only way that Nigeria can progress – calling out injustice wherever one finds it – and Nigeria MUST progress.

SOWORE FIGHTS ON – THE REAL DEBATE FOR NIGERIA’S FUTURE WILL TAKE PLACE ON FEBRUARY 16, 2019

SOWORE FIGHTS ON – THE REAL DEBATE FOR NIGERIA’S FUTURE WILL TAKE PLACE ON FEBRUARY 16, 2019

Today, the NEDG/BON 2019 Presidential debate will take place. The APC (Buhari), PDP (Atiku), ANN (Durotoye), ACPN (Ezekwesili) and YPP (Moghalu) are all scheduled to be on stage. However, Sowore Omoyele, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, and Nigeria’s most authentic voice for positive change and national transformation will be conspicuously absent from that stage.

We are disappointed, but not deterred. We recognize that those who have raped and plundered Nigeria for much of the last 58 years will not yield power without a fight. While the debate would have offered us a platform to engage with the Nigerian people, we are encouraged by the fact that although our candidate will not be on the debate stage, his message of hope continues to be passed on to Nigerians on the streets, in market squares, in places of worship and on social media.

The conspiracy to keep the most authentic voice of positive change and transformation away from that debate stage was deep. It began with the fraudulent selection of participants by Channels TV, NEDG and BON, and ended with the refusal of the Chief Judge of the High Court of the FCT, Justice Ishaq Bello, to assign the case to a trial judge.

Along the way, the first trial judge, Justice D. Z. Senchi recused himself from the case, and the UPN, a member party of the APC led Coalition of Progressive Political Parties (CPPP), sought to introduce further delays by filing to join our case.

All these extreme actions were taken because they are afraid. Again we ask question what we have asked before: why is there such an obvious fear of allowing the participation of Omoyele Sowore in the presidential debate? What does the ruling establishment have to hide? We know they do not want us to reveal to Nigerians that the “Next Level” that they are seeking, is a worse level of depravity, ineptitude, nepotism and corruption. They are afraid that what they tell themselves behind closed doors, as Nigerians learned from the revealing confessions that Amaechi made about Buhari and the APC’s views about Nigeria, will be openly exposed to the Nigerian people, on prime time TV.

They are correct to be afraid. Sowore would have spoken truth to power tonight. He would have called out Buhari for his callous indifference and challenged Atiku on his crass corruption. He would have revealed Buhari’s ineptitude in the areas of corruption, security and the economy; and exposed Atiku’s complicity in the systemic degradation of Nigeria and its institutions. But most importantly, he would have shared his clear vision for placing Nigeria on the path to prosperity and growth.

If those who conspired to keep Sowore from that debate tonight believe that by doing so, they would have silenced him – they are making a grave error. Truth can never be crushed. A hurricane cannot be tamed. The Nigerian people have seen a glimpse of a brighter future that Sowore and the AAC will provide to them.

On January 23rd, Nigerians will hear from Sowore at The Candidates, a Town Hall series organized by the MacArthur Foundation. President Buhari and VP Osinbajo were at the forum on the 16th, and Nigerians got to watch a two hour horror movie of the inept set of leaders at the helm of our nation. We will present our case to the Nigerian people at this Town Hall. We ask our supporters and those who seek genuine progress for Nigeria, to tune in to that event.

We knew it wouldn’t be easy. We knew the roads would be rough. We knew the establishment would fight back. We are still here. We are still strong. We will not retreat. We will not surrender. Nigeria’s future is too important. We will continue the fight, and we are confident that on February 16, 2019 the Nigerian people will give their verdict on the debate for Nigeria’s future by voting Omoyele Sowore as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nigeria MUST progress!!!

The Debate Before The Debate: What Are You Afraid Of President Buhari?

The Debate Before The Debate: What Are You Afraid Of President Buhari?

”In nearly four years of his presidency, Buhari has totally disengaged and distanced himself from Nigerians given his aloofness and spectating position on important and controversial national issues when he should have addressed the Nigerian people.” – Bayo Oluwasanmi

January 10, SaharaReporters published a story headlined “APC Coalition Joins Conspiracy To Exclude Sowore From Presidential Debate” In a statement issued by Dr. Malcolm Fabiyi, Director-General of the Sowore 2019 Campaign says “The African Action Congress and the Sowore 2019 Campaign has been notified of a plot to use frivolous lawsuits as a salt tactic to prevent a timely ruling on the case instituted by our party for the inclusion of Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the party, in the January 19th NEDG/BON 2019 Debate.”

“According to the party, the United Party of Nigeria (UPN), which is a member of the APC-led Coalition of Progressives Political Parties (CPPP), is set to file a motion at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja seeking to be joined as a party in the Sowore suit.”

The exclusion of Sowore from the debate has become the debate before the presidential debate. Nigerians are flabbergasted, scratching their heads why the hell Sowore who has proven to be a great communicator on the campaign trail, a tireless campaigner, a charismatic crowd puller, and a brilliant debater who explicates the great issues of our time for ordinary Nigerians was yanked from the debate.

The new plan of APC as a co-conspirator in the plot to disallow Sowore from participating in the debate make President Buhari an accomplice. In nearly four years of his presidency, Buhari has totally disengaged and distanced himself from Nigerians given his aloofness and spectating position on important and controversial national issues when he should have addressed the Nigerian people.

Buhari has remained dangerously reticent, wickedly reclusive, sneakily elusive, and a terrible taciturn who fail to use the bully pulpit to connect with Nigerians. For example, it took him four days as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to issue a terse statement after 100 of his soldiers were butchered by Boko Haram.

Mr. President, you’re employed by the Nigerian people. Sir, you’re duty bound to feel their pulse on any issue by talking to them and getting feedback. As president, you cannot choose to remain silent. Right now, there’s a rumor making the rounds that your handlers have surreptitiously scheduled your next doctor’s appointment in London to coincide with the date of the debate so a proxy will fill in for you.

The question that agitates the minds of Nigerians is: Why would President Buhari through his party APC join the conspirators to exclude Sowore from the debate? Who is afraid of Sowore? What are you afraid of President Buhari? Why do you want to deny Nigerians the opportunity to hear from Sowore? Why are you scared of being on the debate stage with Sowore? Nigerians are dying to hear from Sowore why he wants your job.

In fact, you should insist on debating Sowore so you can amplify your achievements as president in the past four years live on a national TV. If you ever go on stage with Sowore, we promise you our eyes will be stuck to the screen like peanut butter on bread. Please don’t let this rare opportunity pass you!

The importance of presidential debates cannot be stressed enough. Debates force candidates to discuss issues they would rather not discuss. Debates allow candidates to deny or confirm some of their bogus campaign claims and exaggerated promises. Debates allow voters to assess men and women running for office without the usual filters. Debates provide opportunity for candidates to defend their cagey positions and irritable repudiation of the other’s views, record, and ability.

Debates will reveal to Nigerians who among the candidates is well groomed, prepared, and ready to govern through display of confidence, construction of logical arguments that make sense, the opportunity to hear and see audience’s reactions, and the humility to listen and respond to others’ arguments. Debates also guarantee the freedom of speech by allowing people with whom we disagree to speak.

If we examined, scrutinized, and grilled our presidential candidates and see who is best fit, best prepared for the job, who demonstrates sound judgement, ability and intelligence, superior analysis, mastery of the problems and proffered solutions, the debate will recommend for voters who they’ll cast their votes for The debate will prove who is the dead dog and the living lion… Let’s go there!
